Patina Basics
Time: 10 a.m. - 5 p.m.
Location: Nevada Museum of Art, ,

Learn to enhance metal with vibrant color in this workshop. Students will explore various methods of applying patina to metal, including heat application, submerging, fuming, and resist techniques. Students will create numerous samples of metal with varying colors and a book of recipes to duplicate their results with household materials. We will be using copper and brass stamping cutouts, so everyone will leave with numerous samples that can be easily turned into charms or jewelry, as well as a "cookbook" of recipes. Cindy is teaching this class at the Nevada Museum of Art. Stringing 101
Time: 2 p.m. - 4 p.m.

Never made jewelry before? This is the class for you. Learn all about constructing a piece of jewelry using bead wire, crimp beads and covers, and attaching the clasp. Different stringing methods will be covered including introductory wire wrapping skills. All students will leave with a finished bracelet. Class limited to 5. All beads, tools and materials provided. Cost $35

Seed Bead Basics: Netting
Time: 2 p.m. - 4 p.m.

Learn one of the easiest and most versatile seed bead stitches in this beaded bead class. Everyone will learn the basics of netting, how to vary bead sizes, read netting patterns and how to start and complete a bracelet. All beads, and tools provided. Students will need to bring or purchase a clasp to finish their bracelet. This is a seed bead class - if you need magnification, please bring it. Limited to 5 students. Cost $35. ONLY 1 SPOT LEFT

It's a Wrap! Leather Bracelet
Time: 12 p.m. - 2 p.m.

Have fun learning to wrap two-hole beads onto leather cord to make a double wrap bracelet. Everyone will learn how to keep the beads lined up properly (90% of the challenge!), add a clasp and finish your piece. All beads, leather, waxed cord and clasps provided. Cost $45. Mixed Media Bracelet
Time: 2 p.m. - 4 p.m.

Mixed Media Bracelet - Create a multi-strand, mixed material bracelet in this intermediate stringing class. Students will learn to incorporate bead wire, chain, drops and metal wire into their project. All beads, wire and tools provided. Students will need to bring or purchase a 3 strand clasp and 7” of chain of their choice (please make sure the holes in the chain are large enough for wire to pass through it. Cost $35.  Limited to 5.

Intermediate Wire Wrapping: Cabachon Wrap
Time: 2 p.m. - 4 p.m.

Learn to wire wrap stones creating one of a kind pendants in this fun wire class. Learn how to form wire bezels that surround your stone, create professional looking bails and decorate your pendant with wire spirals, beads and abstract forms. Everyone will learn about which wire and tool is appropriate for their project. All wire, stones and tools provided. (If you have a special stone you wish to wrap, feel free to bring it.)  Limited to 5. Cost $35. ONLY 1 SPOT LEFT.

Chain Mail: Copper Byzantine Bracelet
Time: 2 p.m. - 4 p.m.

Learn the byzantine chain mail pattern quickly in this fun project class. Students will learn to weave a byzantine bracelet with copper jump rings. All tools and rings provided. Students will need to bring or purchase a clasp to complete their project. Limited to 5. Cost $35.

Simple Set Bezel Pendant
Time: 12 p.m. - 2 p.m.

Create a pendant with just a stone, jeweler’s saw and sheet metal. Learn how to use a jeweler’s saw to create a unique bezel that you design to wrap around your stone. We will use texturing hammers, hole punches and patina to enhance your pieces. All stones, sheet metal and tools will be provided. Cost $35. Limited to 5 students.  (If you have a stone you love and want to use, you are more than welcome to bring it - it must have a face diameter of at least an inch.)

Fold Formed Jewelry Workshop
Time: 10:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.


Create one-of-a-kind jewelry folding and hammering metal to create geometric texture. Students will learn to prepare and anneal metal with a torch, complete numerous folds with a vise, and explore different hammering techniques to create linear patterns. You will also learn to use a jeweler's saw to cut metal and incorporate basic wire wrapping techniques. Students will be provided with a variety of copper and brass sheet metal to create fantastic looking jewelry that is completely unique. The instructor will provide all supplies, tools and materials to be used in class. Cindy is teaching this class at the Nevada Museum of Art. If you are interested in taking this class, you can sign up for it soon on the museum website, www.nevadaart.org/elcordschool/schedule. The museum will post the fees and registration information on their website in March. This workshop will be limited to 10 students.
